TRUE Test® is a ready to use Skin Patch Test used to identify common allergens that cause Allergic Contact Dermatitis (ACD). TRUE Test® comprises two or three panels of ready-dispensed Contact Dermatitis allergens on an adhesive strip.

These 24 or 34 Patch Test allergens are used to screen for sensitivity to the most common chemicals that cause an Allergic Contact Dermatitis (ACD) reaction on sensitised patients.

Patient Information Leaflet True Test Patch Testing

Whilst treatment with steroids and other medications may suppress the symptoms temporarily or during an acute phase, the long term treatment for ACD is prevention or minimisation of exposure to the allergen(s) causing the problem.  This means that the identification of the allergen(s) causing the symptoms is an important step for the long term treatment of this condition.
Common allergens that are implicated in Allergic Contact Dermatitis include:

- Nickel and other metals
- Chemicals
- Paints
- Perfumes
- Dyes
- Medicines

TRUE Test® contains a broad representation of the most common allergens, and is based closely on the screening panel called the European Baseline Series.

From January 2014 a new variant of TRUE Test is available that includes the 36 allergens of Panels 1 + 2 + 3, all in the one box. The two new allergens for Panel 3 are MDBGN and a Negative Control. The TRUE Test Panel 3 product is still available whilst stocks last but will become unavailable from early-mid 2014.
